Beautiful Triple Prog Package in MIKE OLDFIELD vein - Over 3 Hours of music with guests from the worlds of Prog & Rock - Lavish 76-Page Hardback Book!

For two years prior to 2012, Progressive group XII ALFONSO have been composing, arranging, recording and mixing this amazing triple album project dedicated to the life and work of ‘Charles Darwin’. It is XII ALFONSO's 7th album, and following the time-honoured expression, this record, as all the previous ones have been, is a “concept album”, where all the titles are linked to a central idea. The album features a long list of guest players from the Prog and Rock genres, including: Mickey Simmonds (played with Mike Oldfield, CAMEL, Fish and Paul Young on keyboards), Ton Scherpenzeel (of KAYAK and some CAMEL albums on keyboards), Ian Bairnson (of the ALAN PARSONS PROJECT on guitars), David Paton (of PILOT on bass), Maggie Reilly (Mike Oldfield’s vocalist for ‘Moonlight Shadow’ and other tracks), Alistair Gordon (singer on Tony Banks’ [GENESIS] ‘Bankstatement’ album), Elliott Murphy, John A. Helliwell (of SUPERTRAMP on sax), Terry Oldfield & John Hackett (on flutes), Tim Renwick (of PINK FLOYD’s ‘live’ band on guitars), Francis Dunnery, (of IT BITES on guitars), Robin Boult (of Fish’s band on guitars) and Mickaël Manring (schooled by Jaco Pastorius of WEATHER REPORT on bass), plus many more.
‘Charles Darwin’ is an impressive, lovingly put together Triple Disc Set with an equally impressive cast of players.
Musically, on the first play-through, Mike Oldfield seems to be the most prominent influence in use over this lovingly assembled production, but there's a lot take in and I'm sure many other influential names are going to reveal themselves from each and every play. The beautifully put together Digi-Book makes for classy packaging and finishes off what is a quality piece of Progressive product in lavish style.
